Initial Details Revealed For Roseland Medical District Masterplan

The Chicago Committee on Design has reviewed the initial details for a new mixed-use medical masterplan in Roseland. The overall plan area is bound by W 110th Street to the north, S Michigan Avenue to the east, W 112th Street to the south, and S Eggleston Avenue to the west and is near to the recently opened Pullman National Monument. The project was brought forward by the Roseland Medical District Commission who is working with a team of designers led by local firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, all of which are helping to provide a zoning and phasing scheme for the upcoming developments.

New Athletic Field Added at Farragut Career Academy High School in Little Village

A new turf soccer field has been started at Farragut Career Academy High School in Little Village. The mayor’s office has announced that the project is part of a $16.6 million investment in the campus and that the field is set to be completed by fall 2022. Construction is close to topping out for a 33-story apartment tower at 354 N Union Avenue in the Fulton River District. Developer Onni Group has planned for 373 total residential units, ranging in size from a 400-square-foot studio to a 1,600-square-foot penthouse. The formerly empty lot occupies a trapezoidal parcel bound by Union Avenue to the east, the railway to the south, the elevated Halsted Street to the west, and the neighboring K2 apartment tower to the north.

Potential Demolition Announced For Historical Edgewater Church

The sale and potential demolition has been announced of the Epworth United Methodist Church at 5253 N Kenmore Avenue in Edgewater. Located just south of the intersection with W Berwyn Avenue, a little east of Foster Beach and the lakefront, the church has stood in this spot since its completion in 1891. News on its sale recently broke to the congregation who hosted their last service within its walls this past Sunday, after a last-minute estate-sale in order to part ways with surplus items. The church is the latest in a long string of historical structures in danger of demolition for new developments.
