The Committee on Zoning has approved the rezoning for a new mixed-use development at 2124 S Ashland Avenue in Lower West Side. Located just north of the intersection with W 21st Place, the new project will gut an existing two-story masonry building led by developer 2124 Ashland Partners LLC with local firm DesignBridge serving as the architects on record.
A demolition permit was issued on Friday for a one-story masonry residence located at 1222 W 98th Street in the Washington Heights neighborhood. The permit’s owners have been listed as A City Suburban Services Inc.
The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the mixed-use development at 3201 W 31st Street in Little Village. Dubbed the Focal Point Campus, the massive project will be anchored by a new facility for Saint Anthony Hospital and is located just southwest of the intersection with S Kedzie Avenue. Developer Chicago Southwest Development Corporation has partnered with local firm HDR Architecture on the 30-acre, $600 million complex.
The planned Northwestern Medicine Advanced Outpatient Care Center has officially broken ground at 4445 W Irving Park Road in Old Irving Park. With permits issued late last year and foundation and excavating work having already begun, this new four-story medical facility will occupy the full block bound by W Irving Park Road, N Kenneth Avenue, a rear alley, and N Kilbourn Avenue.

Dubbed by some in the arts community as “the Bungalow Lady,” Katie Lauffenburger has been turning heads and stealing hearts with her unique constructions. Lauffenburger crafts from the freshly founded Wonder City Studio where she is building one-of-a-kind 10-inch replicas of Chicago homes.
