609 W Randolph Progresses as the 23rd Tallest in Year-End Countdown

The recently topped-out 609 W Randolph Street takes the 23rd spot in Chicago YIMBY’s year-end countdown. The 15-story, 211-foot-tall high-rise comes to us from developer Vista Property Group and is designed by Antunovich Associates in the growing West Loop Gate neighborhood. The development which replaced a surface parking lot also included renovations of the existing adjoining five-story brick building built in the 1890’s.

New Permit Issued for 1740 W 17th Street in the Lower West Side

A permit was approved yesterday for a new two-story residential building at 1740 W 17th Street in the Lower West Side neighborhood. The owner is listed as Cornel Contac, and the current plans indicate this project will yield three total dwelling units. The building will feature a finished basement, rooftop deck with a stair enclosure, and a rear two-story porch. Per plans, the project will also feature a parking pad. The planned structure will replace an existing building.

Rush University’s Joan and Paul Rubschlager Building Takes 24th Spot in City’s Tallest Construction Countdown

Next on our list of Chicago’s Tallest Countdown is Rush University Medical Center’s new 10-story cancer and neurosciences building at 1520 W Harrison Street in the northwest corner of Little Italy. Known as the Joan and Paul Rubschlager Building following a significant gift from the namesake couple, the nearly completed facility stands 179 feet to its architectural pinnacle. Despite this height, planning documents indicate that a future expansion could bring the final height to 205 feet. The structure connects directly to the clover-shaped Rush University main building, with a 150-foot skybridge connecting the two edifices over Ashland Avenue.

New Welcome Center Envisioned For DANK Haus In Lincoln Square

Initial details have been revealed for a new welcome center in the DANK Haus building at 4740 N Western Avenue in Lincoln Square. Located on the corner of W Lawrence and N Western Avenues, DANK, whose name is the German acronym for German American National Congress, has occupied the building since 1967. With the goal to preserve German-American culture and businesses in the neighborhood, fundraising for the expansion will continue through to the year’s end.
