City Council Approves New Coffee Roastery At 3110 N Kedzie Avenue In Avondale

The Chicago City Council has approved the rezoning for a new roastery and cafe at 3110 N Kedzie Avenue in Avondale. Located just north of the intersection with W Barry Avenue right off of the Kennedy Expressway, the shop would repurpose the existing one-story masonry structure that currently houses the Olde Chicago Antiques store. Local business Metric Coffee is behind the plan that has been in motion for a few months with local design firm En-Masse Architecture, previously known as Mike Shively Architecture, on the new outpost.

New Permits Issued for 1838 W Grace Street in North Center

A permit was issued yesterday for a new three-story residential masonry building located at 1838 W Grace Street in the North Center neighborhood. The permit’s owner for this build is listed as David Payne. Plans for this project indicate there will be six dwelling units. The building will feature front balconies and rear covered porches, as well as a basement level, and a rooftop deck. The property will have a six-foot-tall wooden fence and a six-vehicle garage at the rear. YIMBY reported on the demolition of the previous structure in January.

Update: City Narrows Down Casino Bids To Final Three

Updated renderings and details have been released for two of the five casino bids hoping to win as the city progresses to select a winner later this year. As plans continue to be flushed out leading up to the decisions, the bidders forge partnerships in hopes of impressing city council.
