A permit was approved late last week for a new three-story residential building at 3920 S Calumet Avenue in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood. The owner is listed as Eagle OZB I LLC. This developer has also received permits for 3924 S Calumet Avenue, and plans indicate this project will also result in three flats, each with its own rear open porch. The permits also include a detached three-car garage. The development will replace a vacant lot.

This latest edifice to be added to the rapidly densifying neighborhood will provide a combination of ground-level retail topped by offices above. Iconic Art Institute Lions Removed for Cleaning

The Art Institute of Chicago’s lions were removed early Tuesday morning for a scheduled treatment. It has been decades since the lions were last removed for maintenance, and according to a release by the Art Institute, is a necessary step to preserve the iconic figure. While removed from their post, the lions will be high-pressured steamed, checked for corrosion, and given a hot wax treatment.
