Permission has been granted for the construction of a three-story with basement, two-unit residential building at 2246 West Lyndale Street in Bucktown. Issued on March 4, with an application date showing December 20, 2024, the permit follows on the heels of a demolition permit issued on February 21 to remove the existing home from the site. Real estate records show that residence, built in 1973, sold in November for $645,000. Brophy Excavation has been hired to handle demo work.
Preservation Chicago announced 2025’s most endangered list earlier this week. The yearly list highlights buildings across the city which are architecturally and culturally significant, however due to various reasons, they have fallen into disrepair and face potential demolition in the near future. A new construction permit was issued on August 1, 2023 to begin work. F.H. Paschen took over as the general contractor with the issuance of a revision on November 24 that same year.
The City of Chicago has issued two permits to erect three-story, three-unit residential buildings at 4147 and 4153 South Calumet Avenue in Bronzeville. The permits are identical, and issued on the same day, February 27, though one application was filed on October 29 of last year and the other on October 31. The estimated cost for each building is $450,000.
