Updated plans have been approved for the mixed-use redevelopment of 2222 S Michigan Avenue within Motor Row District. Sitting near the intersection with E Cermak Road, we last covered the project mid-2023 when it was set to become co-living units. Now, plans have pivoted with the same development team led by Hudson Michigan Avenue LLC. No new renderings or plans have been revealed, the images in this article are from its previous iteration.

The apartment building at 3202 North Racine Avenue continues to progress toward exterior completion in Lake View. Most of the windows have now been installed, with sliding glass doors still to come as work on the suspended balconies continues. The five-story elevator building will include 27 rental units.

A pair of demolition permits issued by the City of Chicago signal the beginning of a five-story, 24-unit residential building at 1257 North Ashland Avenue in Wicker Park. The permits, issued Tuesday, January 21, are for the buildings at 1257 and 1259, with one more expected for 1301 North Ashland next door. All three were part of the Mike’s Furniture retail mega-complex. Buildmax Company is named as the demolition contractor.

A new construction permit, issued using the address of 5256 North Winthrop Avenue, came through on December 26, 2024, and developer and general contractor Panoptic Group wasted no time getting started.

The permit was issued on January 10, after an application date of July 8, 2024. Costs for the new build are estimated to be $200,000.

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the mixed-use proposal at 1325 W Fulton Street within Fulton Market District. Revealed last year, the multi-tower, multi-phase project will replace a now-vacant lot bound by N Ada Street to the west and N Elizabeth Street to the east.
