160 N Elizabeth Street Reaches Two-Thirds Mark in Fulton Market District

Construction is rising rapidly for the 27-story building set to rise at 160 N Elizabeth Street in Fulton Market District. This 293-foot-tall edifice planned by Moceri + Roszak is set to yield 9,000 square feet of retail space topped by 375 rental units. Of the planned mercantile space and apartments, 20 percent will be designated as affordable. Unit layouts comprise of 133 studios, 151 one-bedrooms, 89 two-bedrooms, and two three-bedrooms. City Council Approves Mixed-Use Development at 2820 N Elston Avenue in Avondale

The Chicago City Council has approved the rezoning of 2820 N Elston Avenue in Avondale. The site is located at the intersection of W Diversey Avenue, N Elston Avenue, and N Western Avenue. The existing property is a one-story masonry building. The developer for this build is Reinventive Real Estate, and the proposal states that the future build will replace the current building.

Facade Work Underway for Casa Durango in Pilsen

Facade work and installation are now underway for Casa Durango, a five-story mixed-use building at 1850 S Racine Avenue in Pilsen. The developer, known as The Resurrection Project, has planned for 1,610 square feet of retail and 37 affordable residential units. In order for the development to proceed, the site was re-zoned in 2019 from B3-2 Community Shopping District to B2-3 Neighborhood Mixed-Use District. As part of a broader 53-unit affordable housing plan, the developer is also building an additional 16 units nearby at 2008 S Ashland Avenue.

Life Rings Appear Along Lake Michigan After Years Of Advocacy From Rogers Park Neighbors

In recent weeks life rings have appeared along Chicago beaches. Their presence is thanks in part to a bill introduced by Rep. Kelly Cassidy (D-Rogers Park) following the drowning death of 19-year-old Miguel Cisneros in the summer of 2021 near Farwell Pier.  Rogers Park neighbors have seen a number of drowning deaths at the location, and community members have installed rings as preventative measures and have pushed the district for years to respond to drowning deaths.
