Updated plans have been revealed for the upcoming mixed-use development of ‘Old Town Canvas’ at 1610 N LaSalle Drive in Old Town. Earlier this year we covered the project’s latest update as it continued to deal with the fervent opposition of a few neighbors in the surrounding high-rises, with views, density, and especially traffic as their main concerns.
Construction progress is ongoing at 1357 West Roosevelt Road on Chicago’s Near West Side. Yesterday, we checked in on progress one block east of here, at 1257 West Roosevelt. Both buildings are part of the Roosevelt Square development from Related Midwest and the Chicago Housing Authority. 1357 West Roosevelt Road was permitted for construction by the City of Chicago back in December 2022, and is not quite as far along in completion. The building is topped out, however, and most of its windows have been installed.
A new construction permit has been issued for a two-story, two-unit residential building at 2719 West Jackson Boulevard in East Garfield Park. When complete, the property will feature four parking spaces at the rear. Construction, which is planned to cost $400,000, is being led by owner Lotus Property Group LLC. Plans were designed by architect Alan Leskiv.
Plans for the mixed-use development at 5830 N Broadway in Edgewater will be moving forward as alderwoman Manaa-Hoppenworth has announced her support for the proposal. Revealed earlier this year, the project would replace an existing auto lot near the intersection with W Victoria Street, led by a local Edgewater Glen resident.
