Financing has been secured and a groundbreaking date announced for the upcoming mixed use development at 1549 N Fremont Street in the Near North Side. We recently covered the project’s approval process that culminated in construction permits being issued earlier this month. With those in hand, we now also have an official groundbreaking timeline as well.
Construction is underway on a small, long-vacant lot at 1619 West Lawrence Avenue in Uptown. After receiving a permit to build on July 23, McNea and Sons Construction has blocked in the first floor of the soon-to-be three-floor building, set to hold two residential units atop ground-level retail space.

Initial details have been revealed for the residential conversion of 65 E Wacker Place in The Loop. Located west of the intersection with N Michigan Avenue and around a block from the Chicago River, the new plans aren’t the first time a conversion has been proposed for the nearly 100 year old structure.
The City of Chicago has issued a new construction permit for a residential development at 904 West Dakin Street in Lake View. The new building replaces a frame multi-unit home addressed as 906 West Dakin. A demolition permit was issued for that property on February 1 of this year; it was torn down shortly thereafter
