Community Development Commission Approves TIF funding and Land Sale at 6204 S Green Street in Englewood

The Community Development Commission has approved the land sale and Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funds for the affordable commercial-use development at 6204 S Green Street in Englewood. Going by the name ‘Englewood Connect’, the project site is a mix of vacant land and a historic firehouse. The developers on this project are McLaurin Development and Farpoint Development, which were chosen as the winner of the Englewood Invest South/West RFP in March 2021.

New Permits Issued for 4315 S Indiana Avenue in Grand Boulevard

A permit was approved this past Monday for a new three-story residential building to be located at 4315 S Indiana Avenue in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood. The owner is listed as Stephen Talty and plans indicate this project is a frame structure and will yield three total units and a detached three-car masonry garage. There is a companion build of similar scope on the neighboring property which we reported on earlier this month. The development will replace a vacant lot.

Facade Work Begins on The Reed at Southbank

Metal paneling, glass, and painted concrete are all now visible for The Reed at Southbank, a 41-story residential building rising at 234 W Polk Street in South Loop. Developed by Lendlease, Southbank itself refers to a larger four-building masterplan that split off from CMK‘s planned Riverline development just to the south. This Southbank masterplan also comes with an extended stretch of Riverwalk and a small urban park located in its center.

Zoning and Development Advisory Committee Approves Uptown Development at 640 W Irving Park Road

On Tuesday the 46th ward zoning and development advisory committee voted in favor of the residential redevelopment of the former Immaculata High School at 640 W Irving Park Road in Uptown. Developers KGiles LLC and CA Ventures are working with local firm Perkins Eastman and Level Architecture on the design of the new mid-rise and have also set their sights on redeveloping the neighboring American Islamic College, which will now have to vacate its corner of Irving Park Road and Marine Drive.
