Updated plans have been revealed for the upcoming mixed-use development known as Lawndale Redefined at 3400 West Ogden Avenue. Located on the corner with South Homan Avenue near Douglass Park, the upcoming project has filed a zoning application for the long-term vacant lot it plans to replace.
A groundbreaking ceremony has been held for the second project of the city’s Missing Middle Infill Housing initiative in North Lawndale. Announced just over a year ago, the Lawndale sites are part of a larger initiative led by the city to redevelop vacant lots into affordable homes for local residents. This comes after another project already broke ground on seven two-flats.
Details have been revealed for a new multi-modal transportation hub at 2107 South Pulaski Avenue in Lawndale. Dubbed “The Go Hub,” the new facility is being developed by Chicago-based nonprofit Equiticity. It will replace a pair of vacant lots just north of the intersection with West Cermak Road, steps away from the CTA Pulaski Pink Line station.
Plans have been approved for a new community-focused recreation center at 3901 West Cermak Road, on the border between Little Village and Lawndale. The proposal, dubbed the One Lawndale Recreation Center, will replace a former CTA storage yard just east of the intersection with South Pulaski Road.
Five finalists have been revealed for the city’s Missing Middle Infill Housing initiative across Lawndale. Split into six clusters/zones of vacant city-owned lots, the initiative looks to subsidize the construction of 99 for-sale homes for the middle class in an area that has long seen rampant disinvestment and 15 percent population loss in the last decade.
