Habitat For Humanity Permitted For Two More Single Family Homes In Austin

Habitat For Humanity received authorization from the City of Chicago earlier this month to erect two single-family homes on Chicago’s far west side. Identical permits came through on April 14 to build at 5308 and 5320 West Ferdinand Street in the Austin neighborhood. Each permit shows an application start date of January 27, and both include a reported cost of $320,000 apiece.

Foundation Permit Issued To Begin The Clifton At 4725 North Clifton Avenue In Uptown

A foundation and superstructure permit issued by the city on April 24 allows construction to begin on The Clifton, a five-story, 40-unit residential development at 4725 North Clifton Avenue in Uptown. Developer CEDARst Companies and general contractor Method Construction Services are the recipients of the permit, which entered the Chicago Data Portal on June 23 of last year.

1900s Multi-Unit Building In Humboldt Park To Be Rehabbed

A three-story plus basement multi-unit residence at 1247 North California Avenue in Humboldt Park will be saved and renovated by its new owner. According to real estate records, NXT Realty of North Center purchased the property in June 2025 for $1.13 million. The building, erected in the 1900s, had been recently boarded up, but the city issued permission to do preparatory interior demolition in October in anticipation of the rehab. Then, on April 23 of this year, the full renovation permit came through showing a reported cost of $246,000.

Brickwork Showing Out In Early Stages Of 1658 North Burling Construction

Brickwork is the standout feature on a new condo development at 1658 North Burling Street in Lincoln Park. Though progress has only reached the second floor of the four-story building, multi-color bricks already adorn much of the first floor and parts of the second.  An exposed steel beam straddles the main entrance, while a pair of steel headers have been set on level two. Around back, there’s more brickwork at ground level, though it’s not as fancy as the main façade. Pallets of block and brick await further placement.
