Construction Permit Issued For 36 Units At Clark & Leland In Uptown

A new construction permit has been issued to allow for a 36-unit apartment building on the northeast corner of Clark Street and Leland Avenue in Uptown. Using the address of 4713 North Clark, the City of Chicago released the permit on January 6, 2025. The residential development replaces a single-story masonry building most recently home to Byline Bank. That structure was permitted for demolition in February 2022, then demolished in January of 2023.

Pending Permit That Would Demolish 1912 Bronzeville School Could Be Void With Property Back Up For Sale

Crain’s Chicago Business has reported that the property on which the historic Holy Angels School in Bronzeville has stood for more than a century has been put back on the market, potentially saving the building from demolition. A pending construction permit with an application date of November 2, 2023 calls for a four-story, 48-unit residential development on the site, which would lead to the empty structure being demolished.
