Foundation work has begun for a new four-flat at 1210 West Wellington Avenue in Lake View, now that the previous structure has been torn down and rubble hauled away. Bachula Development Group is erecting the three-story with basement, four-condominium building on the site, having received a new construction permit (assigned to 1208 West Wellington) on the 13th of this month.
405 West Armitage, the new condominium development from Barrett Homes in the Old Town neighborhood, is taking form as it begins to rise above street level. Also performing general contractor duties as well as those of developer, Barrett broke ground on the project this fall, shortly after receiving a building permit from the City of Chicago that was issued on October 4. The site used to be home to a single-story brick building that most recently held a CVS store.
Let’s take a final look for the year at construction progress on 400 Lake Shore North Tower. The Streeterville residential tower, the tallest building currently under construction in Chicago, is really starting to show along Lake Shore Drive and the Ogden Slip.

The dramatic demolition scene continues to play out at Halsted Street and Chicago Avenue in West Town, as Brandenburg Industrial Services reduces the former newspaper-printing plant to rubble.
The glass curtain wall is being installed at the topped-out 220 North Ada residential tower on Chicago’s Near West Side. Thanksgiving week saw the first level of windows go up on the building as high-rise development continues to push its way further west in the West Loop. A tower crane permit issued last week indicates that construction could begin very soon just a couple blocks north at 400 North Elizabeth, while the 368-unit Flora apartment tower at 1114 West Carroll Avenue just opened in mid-October.
