The tower crane base is in the ground at 1010 South Wells Street, the first phase of CMK Companies’ Riverline development in the South Loop. The keen eye of reader Alex (MrSouthLoop on Instagram) spotted a truck delivering the stub Thursday morning, and it was set in place immediately. Around the base, foundation work continues by general contractor Brandts Build and their concrete partner, Goebel Forming.

ComEd Demolishes 1920s Industrial Office Building At 900 South Clinton In South Loop

Demolition of a 1920s-era industrial-style office building is underway at 900 South Clinton Street in the South Loop. It was most recently the home of Susanin’s Auctioneers & Appraisers, whose signage is still in the glass-block windows along the east-facing façade. An internet search for the architect has proven fruitless, though indications are that the building was heavily renovated between 1998 and 2000.

Three Units Over Retail Permitted To Fill Gap On Milwaukee Avenue In Wicker Park

A small gap in the Milwaukee Avenue Street wall in Wicker Park will now be plugged, thanks to a permit issued by the city on January 21. At 1280 North Milwaukee, Kiferbaum Development Group got permission to erect a four-story on slab building, with no basement. They filed their application on July 23 of last year, and it came through with a reported cost of $2 million.
