Six New Affordable Homes Permitted For Bridgeport Residential Development

Six permits were issued by the City of Chicago on March 10 to build affordable single-family residences on South Stark Street in Bridgeport. The homes are part of a larger development that has already seen several townhomes and standalone buildings on the block bound by Stark Street, Hillock Avenue, Throop Street, and the rail tracks. Skyriver Throop Development LLC is behind the project, which replaces a light industrial building demolished back in 2018. MPI Contracting is named in the permits as the general contractor.

Tiny Giants Gets A Permit For Mixed-Use Building In Horner Park

The City of Chicago has issued a permit to begin construction on a mixed-use building at California and Montrose Avenues in Horner Park. Demolition is complete on the three commercial buildings that used to occupy the site, and now excavators are tearing away at the earth to get foundations started. That will allow work to begin on a four-story structure that will include a Tiny Giants Early Learning Center on the ground floor, 24 residential units on the third and fourth levels, and office space and support services for the school on the second floor.

Thompson Center Google first glass

First Row Of New Glass Works Its Way Around The Thompson Center

One row of glass, just above street level, is making its way around the Thompson Center, as Google renovations continue at Helmut Jahn’s Loop office building. Starting on the corner of Clark and Lake Streets, the glass stretches the entirety of the north façade, then down the west façade along LaSalle Street to Randolph Street. There’s more along the west side of the Randolph facing, and then just a few panes along Clark Street.
