It has taken some time to get preliminary work done inside the building in preparation for the razing, but that’s been accomplished now, and demo work is expected to begin in earnest within the next two week.

The city issued a permit for a three-story, three-unit building at 1124 South California on May 1 with a reported cost of $450,000. It had been pending in the Chicago Data Portal since February 10, a duration of 58 business days.
A three-story plus basement, two-unit residential building has been permitted by the City of Chicago to replace a frame home and its detached garage at 1936 South May Street in the Pilsen neighborhood. The new permit shows an application start date of November 11, 2025, and it came though on April 15 with a reported cost of $600,000.
The first of two two-flat residential buildings has been approved on a vacant portion of North Ridgeway Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. The first permit was issued on April 30 for 613 North Ridgeway, 50 days after is application start date of March 11, and it includes a reported cost of $476,400.
As a pair of demolition permits await approval, the first of three new residential buildings for the 1300 block of West Foster Avenue in Uptown has been cleared for construction. A three-story plus basement, six-unit residence was permitted by the city on April 27 for 1351 West Foster. It will be bookended by two more multi-unit buildings once demolitions are carried out.
