Demolition Of Torstenson Glass Buildings Is Underway In Lake View

Three demolition permits were issued on July 30 to tear down the Torstenson Glass buildings on North Sheffield Avenue in Lake View, and work is now underway to raze two of them. 3233 North Sheffield, considered by many to be the best of the lot, is still intact, but 3241 and 3247 North Sheffield are both in varied states of ruin. Apex Construction Group is the demolition contractor on the job.

Ann Sather Building Demolition Mostly Complete

If you listen closely, you can still smell the faint remnants of cinnamon gravy, but aromas and memories are just about the only things left of the Ann Sather building at 909 West Belmont Avenue in Lake View. When we visited the site on Saturday, little remained of the structure, which was permitted for demolition on July 10, but the front wall and sides as Brophy Excavation continues to raze the property from the rear forward.

Three Demolition Permits For Torstenson Glass Buildings Signal Start Of Residential Redevelopment In Lake View

A trio of demolition permits issued on July 30 allow the razing of the Torstenson Glass buildings in the 3200 block of North Sheffield Avenue in Lake View, clearing the site for residential redevelopment. 3233, 3241, and 3247 all came through together with Apex Construction Group assigned as the demo contractor. The permits each cite a reported cost of $245,000; it is presumed that is for the entire demolition project, not for each building.
