Three Demolition Permits For Torstenson Glass Buildings Signal Start Of Residential Redevelopment In Lake View

A trio of demolition permits issued on July 30 allow the razing of the Torstenson Glass buildings in the 3200 block of North Sheffield Avenue in Lake View, clearing the site for residential redevelopment. 3233, 3241, and 3247 all came through together with Apex Construction Group assigned as the demo contractor. The permits each cite a reported cost of $245,000; it is presumed that is for the entire demolition project, not for each building.

Another Lake View Greystone Comes Down Ahead Of Redevelopment

A 1905-built greystone at 1325 West Cornelia Avenue just off the Southport Corridor in Lake View has been demolished, to be replaced by a two-unit building. After pending in the Chicago Data Portal for 78 days, a permit for demolition came through on July; a week later, it had been razed. Carlos Group was the demo contractor, at a reported cost of $20,000.

Mixed-Use Development Approved In Lake View

Plans for a new mixed-use development at 1040 West Belmont Avenue in Lake View have been approved by the Chicago City Council. Sitting mid-block between North Kenmore Avenue and North Seminary Avenue, the new-construction building would replace an existing one-story commercial building currently occupied by Giordano’s Pizza.
