Caisson Work Is Underway For The DePaul Athletics Practice Facility

There are a lot of big caisson jobs getting started in Chicago, and DePaul University has tipped off on one of their own with work underway for the new sports practice facility at Sheffield and Belden Avenues in Lincoln Park. It’s still early in the first quarter for teammates Bully & Andrews and concrete contractor Adjustable Concrete, who got permission to drill and fill caissons on May 5. Also on the starting team is Thatcher Foundations; their rig is running drills.

Full Construction Permitted For DePaul Basketball Center In Lincoln Park

The full construction permit for DePaul University’s controversial basketball center on North Sheffield Avenue in Lincoln Park was issued on Thursday, the 6th of August. The permit, addressed as 2300 North Sheffield, had been waiting in the data portal since April 6, a duration of 122 days, and with it comes a reported cost of $42,392,000. It was preceded by permission to begin caisson work on June 5 and a stormwater management permit on July 25. Bully & Andrews is the general contractor, working on plans drawn by Antunovich Associates.

DePaul Begins Demolitions For New Athletic Center

Demolitions have begun for a row of vintage buildings on North Sheffield Avenue on the DePaul University campus in Lincoln Park ahead of construction the school’s new basketball center. Heneghan Wrecking received permits to tear down 2308 North Sheffield on July 20 and 2314 North Sheffield one day later. Each of those permits shows a reported cost of $47,000, but there are three other structures to tear down, and it isn’t clear if that figure covers all five, or just each of the first two.
