A new permit was issued by the city on February 26 to build a new multi-unit residence at 1355 West 16th Street in Pilsen. The home it replaces was empty and being renovated when it was destroyed by fire on April 17 of last year. The same fire also damaged the residences on either side; both have since been issued permission to remedy the damage.
Construction has begun at 1317 North Western Avenue, signifying Phase 2 of a two-part residential development coming to Wicker Park. General contractor R&M General Contractors, who are also part of the development team, received a permit to begin work on September 26 of last year after filing for permits on June 15, 2023.
A permit has been issued by the City of Chicago to allow for the construction of a four-story with basement, 15-unit building at 3645 South Michigan Avenue in the Bronzeville neighborhood. Developer Urban Edge Group got the permit on February 26; they will also act as the general contractor. The application date shows December 17 of last year, with an estimated build cost of $3.577 million.
We barely got a chance to tell you about the demolition permit for an 1880s residential building at 1063-67 West Taylor Street in Little Italy, and now demo work has already gotten underway. A demolition permit has been issued for the turn-of-the-century residential building at 3631 North Sheffield Avenue in Wrigleyville. It’s the first of three adjacent buildings to be razed for a new residential development just beyond the right field ivy at Wrigley Field, with 3627 to its south and 3633 North Sheffield to its north surely soon to follow.
