Full building permit issued for 400 Lake Shore North Tower in Streeterville

The City of Chicago issued a full building permit on August 6 to allow the 400 Lake Shore North Tower to continue construction through full height. The 72-story residential skyscraper from Related Midwest can now maintain progress unabated in Streeterville, as the concrete core continues its rise above the old Chicago Spire Cofferdam, and the replacement ramp from Lake Shore Drive takes form. There is also an incredible amount of excavation still ongoing at the site.

400 North Elizabeth demolition

400 North Elizabeth reduced to rubble; 33-story apartment tower on the way

Atlas Industries has most of the demolition work done at 400 North Elizabeth Street in the Fulton Market District, with little else left to do but clear rubble from the site. Two buildings on this property have now been torn down, with 400 North Elizabeth receiving a demo permit on June 6 of this year, and 401 West Ogden getting its walking papers on June 24. Coming soon will be a 33-story residential tower from Weldon Development Group and Mark Goodman & Associates, followed shortly thereafter by a 31-story building.

5035 North Broadway demolition

Demolition permit issued for W.C. Reebie & Brother Storage building in Uptown

A planned renovation of the W. C. Reebie & Brother storage building at 5035 North Broadway in Uptown will include demolition of the front portion of the building. The City of Chicago issued a demolition permit for the 1920-built, George Kingsley-designed structure on August 7. While the permit does not specifically state “partial demolition,” a spokesman for TimeLine Theatre, the building’s owner, confirmed “only the front” of the building will be demolished.
