Wayman African Methodist Episcopal Church, located at 509 West Elm Street in the Cabrini-Green neighborhood on the Near North Side, is undergoing the partial demolition of one- and two-story additions to the original church structure. The single-story portion has already been reduced to rubble, and the crew from demo contractor DemoX is working on the two-story addition that extends the west end of the building.

Construction Has Gone 3D At 754 North Bishop Street In West Town

Construction of a new residential development at 754 North Bishop Street is beginning to go vertical in the West Town neighborhood. Volo Holdings, named as the developer in the new construction permit issued by the City of Chicago on September 25, is erecting the building. Their subsidiary, Diamond Partnership, is listed at the general contractor. Brickwork has begun in earnest, with much of the first-floor outer shell’s masonry work now showing.

Former Lincoln Park Hospital Site Lands Five More Single-Family Home Permits

Five new construction permits for single-family homes were issued by the City of Chicago over a one-week period earlier this month. Located on the site of the demolished Lincoln Park Hospital (Grant Hospital before an ownership and name change in the 1990s) at 550 West Webster Avenue, the five new homes join two others already in progress, and together they’ll form the Grant Place Residences when completed. Lincoln Park Hospital closed in 2008, and was permitted for demolition on June 6, 2012.

Three Residential Units Top Out At 2718 North Racine Avenue In Lincoln Park

A three-unit residential building at 2718 North Racine Avenue in the Lincoln Park neighborhood has topped out at three stories, as exterior masonry work nears completion. The development replaces a two-story multi-unit residence demolished this summer. The new construction permit, issued by the City of Chicago on September 20, names Devise Development Group of River Forest as the developer.
