Related Midwest hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, June 17, at the construction site of 400 Lake Shore, their new two-tower residential development in Streeterville. Repurposing the former Chicago Spire site, the 72-story North Tower is currently under construction; the South Tower will follow. The North Tower will deliver 635 residential units, with 20% of them set aside as affordable.
Construction on the Perkins&Will-designed CTA Damen Green Line station continues heading toward completion on Chicago’s Near West Side. Announced by the Emanuel administration in 2017 but delayed by a variety of factors form its originally scheduled opening in 2020, much progress has now been made to this point.
Roosevelt Square Phase 3B, a 67-unit apartment building from the Chicago Housing Authority and Related Midwest, has topped out in the Little Italy neighborhood. Located at 1002 S Racine Avenue, the six-story building has its windows in place and is now awaiting the start of exterior cladding.
220 North Ada received a full building permit on June 12, allowing general contractor Clayco to take the new apartment tower to its full 29-story height. Working in tandem with concrete contractor Adjustable Concrete Construction, the core is rising on site now, while a parking ramp is taking shape. As of Friday, crews have reached the underside of the second floor across most of the half-block-long site.
A four-story, six unit residential development at 1218 West Belmont Avenue in Lake View appears to be nearing the finish line. The building, designed by AP Architects LLC, bears the address of 1218 for its west portion, and 1216 for its east portion. Belmont Development is the property owner, with Heritage Builders of Wilmette serving as the general contractor, according to the New Construction permit issued by the City of Chicago back in July of 2022.
