With the former CVS building at Lincoln, Armitage, and Sedgwick now demolished, foundation work is underway for a new building at 405 West Armitage Avenue in the Old Town neighborhood. That’s where Barrett Homes has begun building a four-story, six-unit condominium project. Barrett Homes has also provided us with some fresh renderings of the development, on which they are acting as both developer and general contractor.

405 West Armitage will include two retail spaces on the ground floor to replace the commercial space demolished, as well as a garage with 12 parking spaces. There will also be storage for 13 bicycles, according to the new construction permit issued the fourth of this month. A residential lobby entrance will be located along the Armitage Avenue street front. The building will have an elevator; the new construction permit tells us to look for that under an additional permit. It also mentions outdoor spaces at the “rear” of the property; the renderings show outdoor spaces at the west end of the building, which would be the rear of the property oriented from Sedgwick. 360 Design Studio is the design architect.

405 West Armitage will be located two blocks west of Lincoln Park and the Lincoln Park Zoo. Residents here will have access to CTA bus Routes 37 and 73 on their block. Two blocks east at Clark Street are stops for Routes 22 and 36.

such a tasteful addition to that area and a huge upgrade from the rundown CVS with no housing above it. It looks like the 6 units will be large enough for families and walking distance to a few great schools.
