The concrete core is rising from the foundation at the University of Chicago’s state-of-the-art Cancer Center on its Hyde Park campus. The University and general contractor Turner Construction received a foundation permit on December 12 of last year. The “core and shell” permit issued May 9 of this year authorized them to build the core seen in the photos, which will rise nine stories in total, including one below grade.
Foundation work has begun on a four-story, 31-unit residential development on the site of a former Burger King in Wrigleyville. The City of Chicago issued a New Construction permit for the new project with the address of 3951 North Wayne Avenue.
Window installation is nearing completion at 4715 North Western Avenue, a six-story residential development in Lincoln Square. The project, which replaces a surface parking across Leland Avenue from the CTA Western Brown Line elevated platform, will feature 63 affordable rental units and 5,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space. It is being developed by The Community Builders.
Demolition work has begun at 1125 W Loyola Avenue in the Rogers Park neighborhood. That’s the address of Centennial Forum, on the campus of Loyola University Chicago. The two-story building served as event space for the school.
Façade work continues at the Advocate Illinois Masonic Center for Advanced Care western expansion in Lake View. At 900 W Nelson Street, Turner Construction topped out the project in February, and took the tower crane down in May.
