A two-unit residential building that began construction in May of this year is progressing quickly at 1450 West School Street in the Lake View neighborhood. Foundation work was underway for the project when we were here in the spring; it has now risen to its full three-story height.
A creation by 360 Design Studio, the building will include a basement, a private deck on the third floor, and rear deck on the first floor, indicating this might be a condo building with one duplex-down unit and one duplex-up unit. A detached two-car garage will have a rooftop deck.
The building permit was issued by the City of Chicago on April 26. A three-story residential building previously on the site received a demolition permit just three days prior, and demo work started immediately.
Residents of the two new units at 1450 W School Street will be a two-block walk from the Southport Brown Line platform. The 77 bus has stops two blocks to the south, while the 9 and X9 buses stop about two blocks to the northwest.
