Facilities for a new Lubavitch Girls High School are under construction at Devon Avenue and North Whipple Street in West Ridge. Students had been attending classes in schoolrooms attached to the Congregation Bnei Ruven at 6350 North Whipple; the new two-story masonry building will update and modernize the educational experience.
The new Peterson Ridge Metra station opened Monday in the Edgewater neighborhood, addressing rider requests to fill in the gap in service between Ravenswood and Rogers Park. With Monday’s opening, four trains were added to weekday service on the Union Pacific North (UP-N) Line. While trains have begun stopping at Peterson Ridge as of Monday morning, the official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place June 11.
An opening date has been announced for the new Metra Peterson Ridge station at 1810 W Peterson Avenue on the boundary between Edgewater and West Ridge. Bound by N Ravenswood Avenue to the west, the new station will be served by the Union Pacific North Line. Years in the making, the station will open May 20th.
An opening has been held for the new home of The American Blues Theater at 5627 N Lincoln Avenue in West Ridge. Sitting just north of the intersection with W Bryn Mawr Avenue near Rosehill Cemetery, the theater repurposed a vacant one-story commercial building. The project was led by the theater company itself with Morris Architects Planners acting as the architects while Schuler Shook supplied the theater systems.
Multiple construction permits have been issued for an expansion of an existing intermediate care facility known as Misericordia Home in West Ridge. The expansion project, which has been dubbed “Sister Rosemary Park,” will serve those with developmental disabilities, comprising of 16 detached homes, each two stories in height.
