Construction is progressing on a four-story condominium development at 642 West Webster Avenue in Lincoln Park. The permit issued by the City of Chicago on September 29 of last year calls for three condo units in the building, which sits directly across the street from Oz Park.
A new four-story with basement residential building has reached its ultimate height at 2218 North Burling Street in Lincoln Park. The three-unit condominium building is being constructed by Promised Land Development, who are both the general contractor and developer. They’re making great progress; this was still undergoing foundation work when we snuck a peek in May.
The outer shell is taking shape for the new Racine Blue Line station on Chicago’s Near West Side. The station, which lies between the inbound and outbound lanes of the Eisenhower Expressway, is part of the CTA’s $3 billion plan to reconstruct the Forest Park Branch of the Blue Line system. The Racine renovation alone, which extends from Racine Avenue to the east to Loomis Street to the west, is estimated to cost approximately $23 million.
A demolition permit was issued August 1 for the former Fast Track restaurant at 629 West Lake Street in the West Loop. That should clear the way to realize the pending permit for an eight-story, 49-unit apartment building designed by Axios Architects.
Monday, after years of planning, delays, and, ultimately, construction, the CTA opened the new Damen Green Line L station at Damen Avenue and Lake Street on Chicago’s Near West Side. The station, approved in 2017, features lots of green, a pedestrian bridge between the inbound and outbound sides of the platform offering a spectacular view of the Chicago Skyline, and a mosaic art installation by local artist Folayemi Wilson in the atrium-style entrance lobby off Damen Avenue.
