Habitat For Humanity Permitted For Two More Single Family Homes In Austin

Habitat For Humanity received authorization from the City of Chicago earlier this month to erect two single-family homes on Chicago’s far west side. Identical permits came through on April 14 to build at 5308 and 5320 West Ferdinand Street in the Austin neighborhood. Each permit shows an application start date of January 27, and both include a reported cost of $320,000 apiece.

A prolific development team of small residential projects has received another permit to build a two-story plus basement, two-unit building at 726 North Lotus Avenue in the Austin neighborhood. GT Alternatives LLC applied for the permit on November 7, and it came through after a two-and-a-half-month wait with a reported cost of $350,000. Peter Sterniuk is the homes’ designer, as he’s been for several previous buildings with GT Alternatives.

Located on the corner of North Lawler Avenue, the new center is replacing a large vacant lot and is nearing its topping-out point within the neighborhood’s Soul City Corridor, according to Block Club.
