One permit has been issued and one is coming soon for a pair of two-unit residences on the 4900 block of West Augusta Boulevard in Austin. The first, at 4902 West Augusta, was permitted on October 8, 87 days after its application start date of July 13, and it includes a reported cost of $400,000. The second one, for 4904 West Augusta, has been pending since July 21.

Each building will be two stories (with basements) containing two dwelling units. Wood entry stairs will lead to the front door, and open wood decks and stairways will adorn the rear of the buildings. Two-car detached garages will be erected on the alley at the back of the properties, accessed from North Lamon Avenue. The two permits call for identical details, with the exception that 4904’s does not specify that the stairs and decks will be of wood construction. Romero’s Construction Service is the site owner and general contractor, with Boris Cubas named as the architect of record.

The four new units will be built on the northwest corner of Augusta and Lamon. There are four CTA bus routes within convenient walking distance of the site. East-west #70 and #66 buses stop to the north on West Division Street and to the South along Chicago Avenue, North-south routes are available one block east on North Cicero Avenue (#54) and three blocks west on North Laramie Avenue (Route 57.) For rail travel, the #54 bus can be used to connect with the Cicero Green Line one mile south, and MD-W trains at the Grand/Cicero Metra station about 1.2 miles north.
