Demo preparations underway for Tiny Giants development at 2801 W Montrose Avenue in Irving Park

Preparation work has begun for demolition of multiple buildings on the southwest corner of Montrose and California Avenues in Irving Park. One demolition permit is pending, for 4346 N California Avenue, while others, most notably 2801 W Montrose Avenue, are sure to follow soon. It is here that Farah and Amir Essa plan to build their next Tiny Giants Early Learning Center facility and mixed-use residential development.

Northwestern Medicine ​Bronzeville Outpatient Center is topped out in Grand Boulevard

The tower crane is gone now that the Northwestern Medicine ​Bronzeville Outpatient Center at 4822 S Cottage Grove Avenue in Grand Boulevard is topped out. General contractors Power Construction and Ujamaa Construction have been on the job since breaking ground last year. Having reached the top side of the 5th and uppermost floor, cladding around the parking levels and glazing for the upper floors and street level should begin soon.

Eight tower cranes dot Chicago’s skies to begin June 2024

Chicago has eight working tower cranes across the city as the month of June begins. They’re located as far south as the 6600-block of S Dr Martin Luther King Drive in Woodlawn, but barely reach north of the Chicago River, with the furthest northern crane working in the 400-block of N Jean-Baptiste Pointe DuSable Lake Shore Drive.
