New Metra Peterson Ridge Station opens in Edgewater

The new Peterson Ridge Metra station opened Monday in the Edgewater neighborhood, addressing rider requests to fill in the gap in service between Ravenswood and Rogers Park. With Monday’s opening, four trains were added to weekday service on the Union Pacific North (UP-N) Line. While trains have begun stopping at Peterson Ridge as of Monday morning, the official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place June 11.

Exterior construction for condos at 4441 North Ashland in Uptown all but complete

Work on the exterior of a new condominium project at 4441 North Ashland in Uptown is close to being finished. Uptown neighbors rejoiced when 4441 North Ashland received a full-build permit back on August 28 of last year. It was one of two adjoining lots in the 4400 block had sat vacant and ugly for far too long. The new permit meant the demise of one of those barren eyesores.

Church of Our Saviour Lincoln Park

Demolition permit for Church of Our Saviour in Lincoln Park makes space for new community center

A demolition permit has been issued by the City of Chicago for the rear property at 530 West Fullerton in Lincoln Park. That’s the home of the Church of Our Saviour, and they’re removing the current parish hall to build a new community center in its place. Issued May 13, the demo permit allows the teardown of the current two-story hall, with Precision Excavation assigned as the demolition contractor. The church building itself, a fixture in the Lincoln Park neighborhood for 150 years, will connect internally to the community center but is not being altered.
