Another Chicago home built in 1910 will meet a very different fate than the one at 1300 West Newport Avenuefeatured yesterday. At 5339 North Glenwood Avenue in Andersonville, a two-unit residence has been permitted for a deconversion into a single-family residence, but it will make up for the lost unit by building a coach house and Additional Dwelling Unit on the alley.
The construction teams at 400 Lake Shore jumped the tower crane once again this past weekend, adding six more shiny yellow sections to Chicago’s highest rig. The crane was last extended in May, and will rise in three more stages before it ultimately tops out. A half-dozen sections will be added during the next two climbs, while the sixth and final extension will add five.
Permission has been granted for a developer to demolish a home at 1300 West Newport Avenue and replace it with a new two-unit residential building. Located in the Southport Corridor of Lake View, the two-story greystone was built in 1910 and according to real estate records, was purchased by an LLC in May of this year for $1.15 million.
Over the course of the last five days, the tower crane has been erected for the hotel tower at the new Bally’s Chicago Casino on the former site of the Chicago Tribune Freedom Center in River West. The sprawling construction site surrounded by Halsted Street, Chicago Avenue, and the Chicago River will see the casino built at the north end, with the 34-story, 500-room hotel placed at the south end.
As construction work at ground level continues on the residential development at 1880 North Milwaukee Avenue in Bucktown, a permit has been issued to change a few details on the original project. On July 18, the city issued permission that the development team had applied for on April 30 to accommodate a larger transformer pad per a ComEd request. Revisions were also addressed for the first-floor garage and bike room, including the reconfiguration of parking spaces due to the larger transformer. The elevator shaft and an overhead door were also revised via the same permit.
