Plan Commission Approves Thrive Exchange In South Shore

Plans have been approved for the first phase of Thrive Exchange at 7901 S Exchange Avenue in South Shore. Sitting right on the intersection with E 79th Street, the project will replace a pair of existing buildings next to the Cheltenham/79th Street Metra station. The proposal was approved by the Chicago Plan Commission, led by developer DL3 Realty and designed by local-firms KOO Architects and Site Design Group.

Zoning Variances Approved For Next Phase Of United Yards

Zoning variances have been approved for the mixed-use development at 1515 W 47th Street in Back of the Yards. Located on the intersection with S Justine Street and replacing a vacant lot, the new building is part of the greater Invest South/West project dubbed ‘United Yards’. Developers Celadon Partners and Blackwood Group worked with local-architecture firm DesignBridge on the greater multi-building proposal.

Finalist Announced For Invest South/West Roseland RFQ

Five teams have been announced as finalists for the multi-site Invest South/West Roseland RFQ. Spread across three-sites along S Michigan Avenue from E 112th Street to the north to roughly E 115th Street to the south, these include a large lot adjacent to the future CTA Red Line station and the Roseland Theater. The RFQ was formally launched last year by the Department of Planning and Development with a different process similar to the recent East Garfield Park RFQ.

Zoning Application Submitted For Galleria 89 In South Chicago

The Chicago City Council has received the application for the mixed-use development at 8840 S Commercial Avenue in South Chicago. Dubbed Galleria 89, the Invest South/West project was the winner of a 2021 request for proposals and was recently approved by the Plan Commission as well. Developer 548 Capital is leading the project that will preserve an existing structure while adding affordable housing designed by Rivetna Architecture and Farr Associates.

Groundbreaking Held For Community Business Hub In Austin

The city has broken ground on a new business development center at 5500 W Madison Avenue in Austin. Located on the northeast corner with N Central Avenue just north of Columbus Park, the new center will redevelop the now vacant Emmet Elementary School. The Invest South/West project is being developed by the team made up of Austin Coming Together, Jane Addams Resource Corp, and Westside Health Authority who are working with Lamar Johnson Collaborative on its design.
