629 West Lake Rises Above Street Level In The West Loop

Construction progress on the residential building at 629 West Lake Street in the West Loop has risen above street level. General contractor Chicago Common Partners has the Axios Architects-designed project going 3D on its way up to eight stories. The 49-unit apartment building will have 2,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor, plus parking for two cars and 49 bicycles.

Renovation Permit Issued For First-Floor Residential Conversion Of The Mabel In Edgewater

Permission has been granted to begin renovation work on The Mabel, the three-story former Maybelline headquarters building at 5920 North Ridge Avenue in Edgewater. At present, the 1928-built structure, designed by the Chicago firm of O’Connor & O’Connor, holds 52 dwelling units on its two upper floors, with commercial space at ground level and in the basement. The Chicago City Council approved the first-floor conversion in August of last year.

Construction Progress Gears Up As District Haus Approaches June Opening On Near West Side

A residential development fronting Hastings Street, 13th Street, and Ashland Avenue on the Near West Side is progressing toward a partial opening next month. Three-story, six-unit buildings, all 10 of which were permitted back in August of last year, face south and north in the two-rowed complex. They’ll be the first homes ready, with June 1 announced as the initial move-in date.

Concrete Foundation Is Set For Addition To 3839 North Clark Street In Wrigleyville

The foundation has been poured for a new addition next to the residential building at 3839 North Clark Street in Wrigleyville. A demolition permit was issued for a multi-unit structure next door at 3837 North Clark back in January. Demolition hadn’t begun as of a February 6 visit to the site, but another trip there on March 25 showed the home gone, and most of the new foundation excavated.
