Demolition of early post-fire building at 720 N Wells Street continues in River North.

207 West Superior is already gone. Now, 720 North Wells is meeting the same fate, as demolition of the two structures continues in River North. Dating back to the 1870s, the three-story brick and cast-iron building at 720 N Wells Street “slipped through the cracks” of Chicago’s survey of historically significant buildings, according to Preservation Chicago’s Ward Miller in this Chicago Tribune story about the demolitions.

Construction reaches third level at 3341 N Sheffield Avenue in Lake View

Construction progress has reached the third floor on a new eight-unit residential development at 3341 N Sheffield Avenue in Lake View. The first two levels have already been clad in brick for the four-story building’s exterior. A New Construction permit was issued by the City of Chicago on March 7, 2024, which included permission for four outdoor parking spaces and indoor bicycle storage. The building will also feature a rooftop deck.

4343 N Richmond Street construction progress

Foundation work has started for condo development on Twisted Hippo site in Irving Park

Foundation work has begun for another condominium development on the lot created by 2022’s Twisted Hippo fire in Irving Park. We showed you construction progress on the first condo building here earlier this month, and now 4343 N Richmond Street is also on the way. Like its predecessor at 4337 N Richmond, this will be another three-story, six-unit structure.
