With permission now in hand, construction can begin on a new four-story, four-unit residential building at 965 East 62nd Street in Woodlawn. Issued by the city on October 10, the permit shows a reported cost of $1.2 million and was applied for on March 3 of this year.

The subject parcel is a vacant lot bounded by an alley to the west. The fourth story will be topped by a roof deck, with balconies on the front of the structure, facing 62nd Street. A pair of detached two-car garages will provide a total of four indoor parking spaces.

Premium Builders Ltd of Northbrook is the developer and general contractor, with design work by Michael Cox & Associates. That duo has teamed up previously on this block. A row of four townhomes was permitted for construction on January 29, 2024 to allow single family residences at 6200, 6202, 6206, and 6208 South Ellis Avenue. Recent Google images show completed homes, and real estate listings indicate all four have been sold at prices ranging from $926,000 to $1.12 million.

One block to the east, Premium Builders in 2023 completed Collection N0. 9 Woodlawn, a six-building cluster of townhomes on the southeast corner of 62nd and Ellis, with AP Architects LLC, also of Northbrook, handling design work.
