A multi-unit residential building has been permitted for construction on the northwest corner of West Ohio Street and North Hamlin Avenue in Humboldt Park. A permit for 3804 West Ohio was applied for on April 11 of this year, and it was approved by the city on September 2 with a reported cost of $350,000.

The permit allows for a two-story plus basement, three-dwelling unit building. It calls for rear porches with an open stairway and three surface parking spaces at the back of the lot at the alley accessed from Hamlin Avenue. Boris Cubas is named as the architect of record, with Carlos Echevarria performing general contractor duties.

The construction site is currently vacant, and has been since a 2017 permit allowed the demolition of a two-story multi-unit residence on the corner. There are three vacant adjacent lots here, but the Chicago Data Portal shows no other permits pending for either Ohio Street or Hamlin Avenue.

CTA service is available by walking three blocks north to the Route 66 bus at Chicago Avenue and the Route 53 bus three blocks west at Pulaski Road. Walking about three-quarters of a mile south into the Garfield Park neighborhood leads to the Conservatory-Central Park Drive Green Line elevated train platform. The Pulaski Green Line stop is about the same distance southwest, but the 53 bus can be used as a connection to get to it.
