Construction is in full swing for a three-story, three-unit residential building at 1087 North Marshfield Avenue in East Village. Issued by the City of Chicago on May 3, 2024, the construction permit also calls for a detached three-car garage at the rear of the property. Designed by Hanna Architects, the building will include balconies facing Marshfield, a rear first-floor terrace, and a basement. The rear stairways will have decks, as will the garage rooftop.
Volo Development is the developer, and under their affiliated company Diamond Partnership, they are also the general contractor. At the time construction was authorized to begin, the estimated project cost was $1.3 million.
A demolition permit was issued April 11 of this year to remove the two-story building previously occupying the site. DemoX did the demolition work, and is also listed on the new construction permit as a concrete contractor.
1087 North Marshfield Avenue is a one-block walk to the northeast from the intersection of West Division Street and North Ashland Avenue. That junction includes access to the CTA’s Division Blue Line station, Routes 9 and X9 bus stops, and a stop for the 70 bus.
