Real estate records show the developer purchasing the property for $150,000 in August 2020. A May 2019 fire caused extensive damage to the building, and a permit issued in December 2019 allowed for the replacement of 5,000 square feet of drywall; it is not clear if that work was undertaken. In June 2020, the developer applied for and received a demolition permit to tear the building down.

The new building is a design by Mayer Jeffers Gillespie Architects. It is to have three dwelling units on the three upper levels with a single retail space on the ground floor. There will be rear steel balconies connected by a four-level steel stairway and a masonry trash enclosure. Three surface parking spaces will be added at the back of the property off the alley accessed from West Ainslie Street, and there will be two storage spaces for bicycles.
