A residential three-flat has been permitted for construction at 4817 South Wabash Avenue in the Grand Boulevard Community Area. The permit was issued on July after its application was filed on June 5, and it was approved with a reported cost of $500,000. Square Construction of Vernon Hills is named as the property owner and the general contractor.

The permit allows for a three-story building with three dwelling units. It does not include a basement level. A metal porch will be built on the back of the homes, presumably connecting decks on all three levels. A three-car detached garage will be built at the alley of 48th Street. Pro-Plan Architects of Park Ridge is the architect of record. The site is currently vacant, with a row of three-flats to the north and Cathedral Baptist Church next door to the south. It is a double-wide lot, but there are no pending permits for for the south half of the space, which would be 4819 South Wabash.

The homes will be located within one-block walks of CTA service via Route 47 buses on 47th Street and Route 29 buses at State Street. The 47th Red Line train platform is about five blocks away at the Dan Ryan Expressway. Several other buses connect to the Red Line platform here, including Routes 15, 24, and 43.
