YIMBY recently stopped by the site of Tribune East Tower, the newly approved supertall that will become Chicago’s second tallest building. Tribune East is part of the Tribune Tower redevelopment project, which includes the conversion of the original Tribune Tower into 162 condominium units. Developers CIM Group and Golub & Company are leading the development of the $700 million structure that will replace a surface parking lot originally used by Chicago Tribune employees.
Lipe Property Company‘s development at 1122 W Chicago Avenue has reached the second of its seven planned stories. The structure will bring both residential and retail to River West‘s intersection of W Chicago Avenue, N Milwaukee Avenue, and N Ogden Avenue.
Demolition permits have been issued for 3644 N Janssen Avenue in Lake View, where property owner Steve Griesemer plans to demolish an existing three-story residential building. The wooden structure will be demolished by Land Enterprises, and IPSA Corp will serve as the project expeditor.
One Chicago Square has surpassed the vertical halfway mark for both its 74- and 49-story towers. Developed by JDL, the mixed-use project will max out at 971 feet in height and make a substantial impact on the cityscape in the River North neighborhood. Since YIMBY’s last update in August, each tower has climbed about 13 floors, with the structurally completed floor count now around 41 and 28, respectively.
