Rafael Szymanski is the filing owner, whose plans include multiple rooftop decks and stair enclosures, a basement, and a detached six-car garage. The new structure will occupy the site of a masonry two-flat and detached garage. The owner also received approval from the City in September 2019, to convert the property from a designation of RS-3 Residential Single-Unit District to RM-4.5, Residential Multi-Unit District.

Interior Work Underway at Cunningham Hall at Illinois Institute of Technology in Bronzeville

Interior work is underway on Cunningham Hall, a nine-story residential building originally designed in 1955 by famous German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Located at 3100 S Michigan Avenue on the northeastern edge of the main campus in Bronzeville, the structure was built by Mies van der Rohe as part of his campus plan and used as on-campus apartments. Illinois Institute of Technology is leading the renovation of the building.
