Updated renderings have been revealed for a mixed-use development at 630 S Wabash Avenue in the South Loop. The project which was revealed late 2021 is located just south of the intersection with E Harrison Street replacing a vacant lot with a new high-rise. Leading the concept are developing partners Melrose Ascension Capital and DAC Developments who are working with local architecture firm Antunovich Associates on the tower’s design.
Demolition work can be seen at the site of the former Sears department store, situated at 4712 W Irving Park Road in Portage Park. Under development by Novak Construction, this initial work will clear the way for a mixed-use transformation. Estimated to cost $90 million, this massive undertaking is another piece of a broader effort to enliven the six corners commercial node. Just across the street, work is progressing rapidly for a 10-story senior living and retail development known as Clarendale Six Corners.
A permit was approved earlier this week for a new three-story residential building to be located at 4433 S Prairie Avenue in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood. The owner is listed as James Nahon and plans indicate this project will yield three total units, each with a rear open porch. Additionally, the permits include a detached three-car garage. The development will replace a vacant lot. Nahon has been issued several permits for this area some of which we have previously reported upon.
This week, North Wells Capital secured an $88 million lease for a planned 16-story retail and office building at 311 W Huron Street in River North. The anchor tenant, a market research company known as Spins, will occupy 48,000 square feet along the top three floors.
