A permit was issued on Tuesday for a new three-story residential building located at 2936 N Damen Avenue in the North Center neighborhood. The owner is listed as MK Construction & Builders. The new construction is slated as a three-dwelling masonry building with a basement. There will be rear decks on all levels, a rooftop deck, and a detached three-vehicle garage. The lot is currently occupied by a masonry building.
Beata K Klakis listed as the architect of record. No drawings or renderings have yet been disclosed, though the filing description has indicated a masonry exterior.
The nearest transportation service is Route 50 at the intersection of Damen & George via two-minute walk south. The nearest CTA Brown Line access is at Paulina station via a 20-minute walk northeast. There are a number of popular restaurants and retail options along N Damen Avenue. The property is across the street from Hamlin Park providing future residents with plenty of access to green space.
MK Construction & Builders Inc will also be serving as the general contractor on the $550,000 project. An anticipated completion date has not yet been announced.

Who moves into a place and says, wow I can’t wait to destroy this for something that has less than a tenth of the charm? Where is the integrity? When is the city going to update its guidelines on what is a historic structure worth preserving?
No city disregards its history more-so than Chicago.
This photo is amazingly tragic because it captures the substandard architecture on either side of the doomed building that it is sure to be replaced by.
