Salesforce Tower Takes First Place In 2022 Countdown

Chicago YIMBY’s 2022 year-end countdown comes to a close with the city’s current tallest project Salesforce Tower in River North. Located at the confluence of the Chicago River on the famed Wolf Point just west of N Orleans Street, the tower ranked third in last year’s countdown after having started construction during the pandemic in August 2020. Developer Hines partnered with the longtime landowner Joseph P. Kennedy Family on the tower designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli, the firm of the late Argentine-born architect Cesar Pelli.

New Permits Issued for 1426 W School Street in Lake View

A new construction permit was issued for a new three-story residential building located at 1426 W School Street in the Lake View neighborhood. The permit’s owners have been listed as Coen Construction. Plans show that this will be a two-unit masonry building with a basement. There will also be a detached two-vehicle garage with a roof deck. The permit lists Michael S Cox as the architect of record. No renderings have been made public.

1000M is Chicago’s Second Tallest Construction Project

In second place in Chicago’s year-end countdown is 1000M, a 74-story residential skyscraper in South Loop. The 788-foot-tall tower is now rapidly ascending and beginning to leave its mark on the south end of the Chicago skyline. The joint project between JK Equities, Time Equities, and Oak Capitals promises to consist of a total of 738 rental units located at 1000 S Michigan Avenue.
