An opening date and additional renderings have been revealed for the new music venue at 1675 N Elston Avenue in West Town. Dubbed ‘The Outset’, the new venue redeveloped an existing industrial building on the site. The space is being developed by Auris Presents who also operates famed venues Concord Music Hall and RADIUS.
The two-story structure most recently held a nightclub but has been vacant for many years, near the recently completed Salt Shed with the new Goose Island taproom as well as long standing icon The Hideout. The building itself has received a new front door, updated facade, and a completely redeveloped interior.
Inside the 11,300-square-foot venue will be a 750-person performance space anchored by an illuminated arch around the stage. Audience members will also be able to stand on a wrap-around second-floor balcony, with new bars, expanded restrooms, and more across both floors. No additional parking has been built for the venue.
A revised bike lane will serve the venue which will also be home to a 10,000-square-foot patio adjacent to the building. Hosting various food trucks, a large bar, and community events, it takes a page from Salt Shed in the heavily industrial area. With a cost of $2 million, The Outset will open June 1st with concerts already lined up through December.
