A permit was approved on yesterday for a new three-story residential building to be located at 4105 S Prairie Avenue in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood. The owner is listed as James Nahon and plans indicate this project will yield three total units, each with a rear open porch. The permits include a detached three-car garage. The development will replace a vacant lot and joins two other planned projects of the same scope on the same lot. We previously reported on these additional projects last year.

Initial Renderings Revealed For Skate Park Renovation In Logan Square

Initial details have been revealed for the redesign of the existing skatepark at 2430 W Logan Boulevard in Logan Square. Located right under the Kennedy Expressway, the existing skate park is one of five operated by the Chicago Park District and the only one that operates year-round due to its covered nature. The extensive remodel and redesign is being led by community group Logan Boulevard Skate Park Committee who tapped LA-based Spohn Ranch Skateparks for the conceptual design.

A new construction permit was issued yesterday for a two-story office building at 1327 S Kilbourn Avenue in the North Lawndale neighborhood. United Scaffolding Inc, is listed as the permit owner and plans indicate this project will also include a pre-engineered metal warehouse as well as a metal canopy for a storage area. The project will replace a vacant lot. Natalie Regan is listed as the structural engineer of record for this project.

City Council Approves Redevelopment At 2653 N Clark Street In Lincoln Park

The Chicago City Council has approved the redevelopment and land-use agreement for The Covent Hotel mixed-use renovation at 2653 N Clark Street in Lincoln Park. Located on the corner with W Drummond Place just a few blocks from the lake, the proposal would reconvert the Single Room Occupancy (SRO) property into affordable studios led by the National Historic Preservation (NHP) Foundation. The approval would also allow for city funds to be distributed to NHP to fulfill the conversion that has been in the works since 2019.
