Construction has begun on a seven-story mixed-use building at 949 W. Dakin Street in Chicago‘s East Lakeview neighborhood. Located across the street from the Sheridan Red Line station and two and a half blocks north of Wrigley Field, the transit-oriented development replaces a single-story structure. Current tenant Ace Hardware is expected to fill a portion of the 13,000 square feet of retail space that will be located on the lower level of the new edifice. The property and financial services firm Draper and Kramer is the developer of the 120-unit project.
Permits have been filed for a four-story residential building in the Boystown neighborhood of Lake View East. The site is a two-minute walk west from the intersection of W Aldine Avenue and N Halsted Street, where bus route 8 stops. A four-minute walk southwest from the address is the intersection of N Halsted Street and W Belmont Avenue, where additional bus routes 7, 151, and 156 are serviced. This area around the intersection also contains a wide variety of bars, restaurants, and retail. CTA L access can be reached via an eight-minute walk southwest to Belmont Station, on the Brown, Purple, and Red Lines. Additional points of interest include the 12-minute walk east to the waterfront by Belmont Harbor, and an 18-minute walk northwest along N Clark Street to Wrigleyville.
