Updated Details And Timelines Revealed For North Union Megadevelopment

Updated details have been revealed for the North Union megadevelopment in the Near North Side. The 8.1-acre site is bound by the CTA Brown Line tracks to the west, W Hill Street to the north, N Wells Street to the east, and W Chestnut Street to the south. It was previously a part of the Moody Bible Institute’s campus, whose parent church’s auditorium is also part of the upcoming Fern Hill Old Town redevelopment. Developer JDL, also responsible for the recently completed One Chicago project, is leading the North Union proposal and working with local firm Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture on design.

Aluminum Panel Installation Now Underway at Gateway Apartments in Illinois Medical District

Aluminum panel installation has kicked off at The Gateway Apartments, an 11-story residential building at 2050 W Ogden Avenue in the Illinois Medical District. The 108-foot-tall structure will be the second phase of a larger master plan known as The Gateway, whose scope involves a mix of retail, residential, and hotel programming. Planned by East Lake Management & Development alongside AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust, the first phase of this 10-acre plan has yielded a single-story pair of retail buildings. The third phase has also received permits but is awaiting vertical construction. Located to the north of Gateway Apartments, this six-story structure will be a Hilton Hotel with 135 rooms.
